What we actually do each month.

Reliable managed hostingYour site sits on hosting we manage, monitor and keep current, not on a shared server you have to argue with when something breaks. We handle the server configuration, the PHP and database versions, the caching layer and the renewals. If the host has an issue, we deal with the host. You never open a support ticket, and you never get an invoice in a currency you did not expect.

SSL certificateThe padlock in the browser bar. Without it, Chrome and Safari put a "Not secure" warning in front of your visitors, Google demotes you in search results, and enquiry forms get flagged. We install the certificate, renew it automatically before it expires, and make sure every page and image loads over HTTPS so no single insecure element breaks the padlock.

Site security & firewallA web application firewall sits in front of your site and filters traffic before it reaches you: brute-force login attempts, bot scans probing for known vulnerabilities, spam injection and the automated attacks that hit every small business site whether anyone has heard of you or not. We configure the rules, monitor what gets blocked, and lock down the login and admin paths that attackers try first.

Automated backupsA full backup of your files and database is taken on a schedule and stored off the server, so a backup is not lost with the thing it was backing up. Retention runs deep enough that you can go back past the point where a problem started, not just to yesterday. If something goes wrong, restoring is our job and it takes minutes, not an afternoon of phone calls.

Uptime monitoringYour site is checked continuously from outside your own network. If it stops responding, we are alerted immediately and start work, usually before a customer has noticed and long before you would have. Silent downtime is the expensive kind: every hour a service business is offline is enquiries going to whoever ranks below you.

Security updates & patchesThe software your site runs on ships security patches regularly, and unpatched sites are how most small business websites actually get compromised. We apply the updates, in the right order, and check the site still renders and the forms still submit afterwards. Applying updates blind is how sites break; that testing step is the part most cheap maintenance offers leave out.

The single most common thing we are called about is a site that quietly went down, expired or got defaced months after launch. Care exists so that call never happens.

What is actually included for R500 a month?

Managed hosting, the SSL certificate, the firewall, automated off-server backups, uptime monitoring and security patching, applied and tested. It covers keeping the site online and secure. It does not include content changes or design edits — those sit in the Optimise and Partner plans.

Am I locked into a contract?

No. Care runs month to month. We would rather keep you because the site is working than because you signed something.

What happens if my site goes down?

Our monitoring alerts us, not you. We investigate and restore from backup where needed. In most cases the issue is resolved before you have seen it.

Do I still own my website?

Yes. The site is yours. If you ever move to another provider we hand over the files and database.

Can I upgrade later?

Any time, and it takes effect the same month. Most clients start on Care and move to Optimise once they want the site actively worked on rather than just kept alive.
